Phidippides Leaders and Coaches are all unpaid volunteers that give their time to help make Phidippides Track Club a success. While we don’t have a formally elected Board of Directors, our Leaders are an ad hoc group that each contribute their time for specific roles within the club. Most of the Leaders have been Phidippides members for many years and typically meet every month or so and several times in the off season to plan and coordinate for the club.

2018 Leaders

Coaches – Steve Pye is our nationally recognized, professional multi-sport coach who has been a key part of Phidippides for many years and offers his skills and experience in both developing and leading our workouts. Steve also serves as treasurer and pays the bills. Ryan Turbyfill is a long time member of  Phidipidies and a multisport coach as well, he will be assisting Steve with coaching this year.  Sarah Pye (Steve’s wife) is also a multisport coach who focuses on coaching women and first-time triathletes.

Membership –  Jeff Ross and James McKenna jointly handle membership duties including collecting dues/waivers, maintaining club roster and providing membership cards. Both Jeff and James are accomplished runners.

Public Relations/Outreach – Michael Sager and Marcus Brooks have also been Phidippides members for years and both are accomplished runners. They handle PR/Outreach duties with local race directors and the running community. They have identified and coordinated our special club races previously where many members participated.

Social Media – Mark Risley will be handling social media including Facebook updates and Email blasts for paid members. But we encourage all members to use Facebook to post any updates that may be of interest to the group including training/weekend long runs and racing experiences.  Mark will also be coordinating the annual potluck picnics this year as well as bringing water to the workouts each week – which is very appreciated by all.

Member-at-Large – Jay Survil is a marathon runner and long time Phidippides member who is very active in the local running/racing community.

Webmaster - Ryan Jansekok is responsible for miscellaneous website related work.

New Members – All Leaders help to drive new membership and welcome new members to our group. Any Leader or club member will help new members understand workout format and pace groups so that they can quickly fit in and start getting faster.
